Students address the energy conservation issues in their school and investigate the application of renewable energy and ways to reduce in greenhouse gas emissions. Through school operational changes, Sustainable Schools have saved up to 30% and thousands of dollars on energy bills while maintaining a comfortable working environment and reaping significant educational, social and environmental benefits in the process.

Water
Students explore ways their school can reduce water consumption. They reduce stormwater pollution that will travel through drains to their local waterways. They may investigate ways to redirect rainwater such as installing rainwater tanks. School operations are designed to minimize water wastage.

Waste
School operational changes ensures that students and the rest of the school community have a range of ways to minimize waste. It includes purchases policies, reusing opportunities, recycling strategies, canteen policies and litter.
